GC066.“Human-Nature system interactions under a sustainable future: Concepts, Modeling, and Application”
Human and natural systems are deeply interconnected, shaping each other in complex and dynamic ways. As both systems continue to co-evolve, increasing demands on the human system (e.g., food, energy) and accelerating Earth system changes (e.g., temperature and precipitation changes, extreme events), pose significant challenges and opportunities for sustainably managing resources and ecosystem services. Understanding their interactions and co-development is essential for informing actionable and effective policy decisions to maintain the sustainable management of the natural system. This session highlights the importance of transdisciplinary approaches to studying coupled human-nature systems.
We welcome contribution from diverse disciplines on advances in:
- Novel representation of one-way coupling between human and natural systems;
- Innovative multi-scale, multi-sector, two-way modeling of coupled human-nature system dynamics;
- Develop, test, and analyze scenarios for potential solutions to a sustainable future;
- Insights on future research directions and strategies for sustaining both human well-being and natural environment.
