Direct human forcings.
Water abstraction for domestic and industrial uses consistent with SSP2.
ISIMIP2b: Histsoc (1901-2018).
ISIMIP2b: Histsoc (1901-2005); rcp26soc (2006-2099); rcp60soc (2006-2099); 2100rcp26soc (2100-2299).
ISIMIP3a: 1901soc, histsoc and 2015soc (1850-2021).
ISIMIP3b: 1850soc (1601-2100), histsoc (1601-2014) and 2015soc (1601-2100).
For modelling groups that do not have their own representation, we provide files containing the multi-model mean (from WaterGAP, PCR-GLOBWB and H08) scenarios for domestic and industrial water withdrawal and consumption under SSP2 from the Water Futures and Solutions (WFaS; Wada et al., 2016, http://www.geosci-model-dev.net/9/175/2016/) project.
ISIMIP2a:
This data is available in the ISIMIP2b archive, from 1901 until 2005 (ISIMIP2b/InputData/water_abstraction/histsoc). Remaining years after 2005 should be filled in with the analogous data from RCP6.0 (ISIMIP2b/InputData/water_abstraction/rcp60soc/), which is based on multi-model projections from the WFaS.
ISIMIP2b:
This data is available from 2006 until 2050. The values should be kept constant from 2050 onwards. The data provided for rcp26soc and rcp60soc are identical and both are taken from simulations based on RCP6.0.
The RCP4.5 data should be used for the RCP2.6 simulations because the combination SSP2–RCP2.6 was not considered by WFaS. The difference is expected to be small compared to the influence of socio-economic conditions, since the choice of RCP only affects cooling water demand in one of the three models, consistent with SSP2 and RCP2.6/6.0.
ISIMIP3a / ISIMIP3b:
This data is based ISIMIP2a varsoc simulations for 1901-2005, and on RCP6.0 simulations from the WFaS project for after 2005. Years before 1901 have been filled with the value for year 1901.
